Ukraine’s military reported that Russia launched 611 drones and 70 missiles targeting several cities across the country, with Kyiv, the capital, being among the main targets.

Russian strikes in Ukraine kill nine people, leave 140,000 Kyiv residents without electricity.
The attacks were carried out overnight from June 14 to June 15, 2026.

Ukraine’s Air Force says Russia carried out a large-scale aerial assault involving 611 drones and 70 missiles, targeting several cities including Kyiv, Dnipro, and Kharkiv. The attacks reportedly included both drones and missiles launched from different directions and were aimed at key urban areas and infrastructure.

According to Ukrainian military statements, its air defense systems managed to intercept and destroy 632 drones and 50 missiles during the assault. The strikes are part of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine that began in 2022 after Russia launched its military operation, triggering a prolonged and intense conflict across the country.

The war between Russia and Ukraine has remained a major challenge for both sides, with neither party achieving a decisive victory, even as their respective allies continue to play significant roles.

European countries and the United States have supported Ukraine with advanced military technology, intelligence, and weapons systems. On the other hand, Russia has also received support from countries including North Korea and China, strengthening its military capabilities throughout the conflict.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently expressed willingness to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss ending the war, but Putin reportedly rejected the proposal, further dimming hopes for immediate peace negotiations.
