Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, criticized U.S. President Donald Trump‘s remarks, calling them arrogant, but insisted they do not diminish Iran’s dignity or greatness.

This came after President Donald Trump made harsh remarks about Iran’s leadership, calling them “bullies” and saying he had no interest in resuming talks with them. His comments came amid renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran following fresh U.S. strikes on Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on X that insulting the Iranian people cannot diminish their nation’s dignity or greatness.

He added that Iranians are known for their respect, civility, and strong values, saying they do not respond to insults with more insults, but through their actions.

Although Araghchi did not mention President Donald Trump by name, Iran’s state media said his remarks were a response to comments Trump made during a meeting with Mark Rutte, where he suggested that the ceasefire understanding between the U.S. and Iran had come to an end.

President Donald Trump said the ceasefire between the two countries was “over” and described Iran’s leadership as being driven by dangerous thinking, warning that the country could develop nuclear weapons if given the opportunity.

The renewed dispute comes amid rising tensions between the U.S. and Iran following attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran accused the United States of violating the June 17 ceasefire agreement through its latest strikes and vowed to retaliate.

The two sides remain divided over how the temporary peace agreement should be implemented, particularly regarding freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran insists it has the right to oversee maritime traffic.
