Iran’s Foreign Minister said the United States made a major mistake in the wars it launched against Iran and over the Strait of Hormuz issue, while Iran’s military insisted that the Strait of Hormuz remains under its control.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Washington relied on false intelligence in claiming that it controls the Strait of Hormuz, insisting that this is not the case.

He said the United States had made repeated mistakes because of intelligence failures, citing the war against Iran as an example. He added that Washington was now making an even bigger mistake over the Strait of Hormuz, arguing that “the greatest danger, even greater than false information, is incompetent intelligence.”

His remarks came after President Donald Trump claimed that the United States had full control of the Strait of Hormuz.

Hossein Taeb, a commander of Iran’s special forces, said the Strait of Hormuz “is in Iran’s hands,” stressing that Iran continues to operate in “complete security.”

Iran has also rejected statements by U.S. officials that the Strait of Hormuz has been reopened, saying it will remain closed until Tehran’s demands are met.

Araghchi also criticized France and other Western countries for what he described as hypocrisy.

Iran and the United States have yet to make progress in talks aimed at restoring compliance with the temporary ceasefire agreement.
