Reports from Minembwe and surrounding areas indicate ongoing clashes and insecurity, as Burundian troops reportedly moved from Bibogobogo toward Minembwe in alleged operations affecting local communities.
These reports continue to be circulated by local residents and various witnesses in the Minembwe area and its surroundings, describing ongoing insecurity and alleged clashes. However, authorities have not yet released any official statement or verified report to confirm these claims, leaving the situation unclear and unconfirmed at this stage.
According to testimonies from some residents, during the night leading into Wednesday, 10/06/2026, Burundian soldiers who were stationed in Bibogobogo reportedly began moving toward Minembwe.
One witness said:
“Burundian soldiers who were in Bibogobogo left at night heading to Minembwe, saying they were going to support others already involved in attacks on Banyamulenge villages.”
The same witness added that only a very small number of soldiers remained in Bibogobogo, estimated at fewer than 15, compared to earlier reports suggesting there could have been over 300 troops in the area.
Meanwhile, local sources also report that fighting and attacks were observed in several areas this morning, including Gakenke as well as other locations such as Bidegu, Kalongi, Mikenke, and Kalingi.
Meanwhile, reports from Minembwe indicate that the MRDP–Twirwaneho armed group has mobilized to push back against the alleged offensives. The group is described as being involved in protecting Banyamulenge civilians and responding to repeated attacks reported in recent periods.
Some local residents say the group has previously played a role in providing protection during intense clashes, which has led certain members of the community to credit it for contributing to their security.
So far, the situation in Minembwe remains tense, with residents reporting ongoing uncertainty about the exact frontlines and the overall development of the fighting across different areas.
The situation being reported in Minembwe and surrounding areas continues to reflect a wider pattern of insecurity in eastern DRC, where tensions, sporadic clashes, and allegations of armed movements are frequently reported across multiple localities. However, the lack of official confirmation makes it difficult to independently verify the details being shared by residents and witnesses.
As uncertainty persists, Minembwe Capital News notes that the information available so far remains largely based on testimonies from local sources, with no consolidated or verified report clarifying the exact developments or the current security situation.
The outlet further states that it will continue monitoring the situation closely and provide updates to its readers as soon as credible, verified, and officially confirmed information becomes available from competent authorities or reliable field reports.
